Seagate Announces Several Products Aimed At Mobile Users

Seagate Technology, one of the largest storage solution companies in the world, today announced several new products designed for mobile consumers who need to create and access data in a reliable, fast manner when they are on the go.

DJI CopilotSeagate has a strategic partnership with DJI, one of the largest and most respected manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles in the world. Together, the two companies are looking to advance data solutions for the UAV ecosystem. The new LaCie DJI Copilot, with design by Neil Poulton, is a complete backup solution that enables drone users to quickly download and review their content in full resolution without a PC. This will allow users of the device to quickly review, copy and manage footage from their mobile device without having to leave the area or go to a workstation. There is a built in screen on the LaCie DJI Copilot that will users to initiate file transfers from an SD card to the DJI Copilot without the need of a laptop or mobile network. The Copilot BOSS (Back-up On Set Solution) app by LaCie allows users to playback video in full resolution as well as manage and organize files with their mobile phone or tablet, and a built-in power bank recharges your mobile devices. With 2TB of storage, the LaCie DJI Copilot enables users to easily store up to 65 hours of 4K 30fps video footage and 20K+ RAW photos. The LaCie DJI Copilot street price in the U.S. will be $349 and will be shipping in the Spring.

Seagate Joy Drive

Seagate is also introducing a new product to the Asian market that looks to address two major issues with mobile phones, the lack of storage and battery life. The 1TB Seagate Joy Drive will allow Android users to plug in for extended battery life and 1TB of storage while on the go. Currently limited to Indonesia and China, two countries with very high populations of mobile phone users, the 1TB Seagate Joy Drive has an MSRP of 660 CNY, which is $99 USD. Seagate is currently evaluating the Joy Drive for partners in other markets, as well.

Seagate Fast SSDThe new Seagate Fast SSD is an ultra-portable USB flash drive that offers up to 540 MB/s transfer rates, while offering shock-resistant properties. The Seagate Fast SSD features a USB-C connection, which means consumers won’t have the traditional issue of plugging the cable in the wrong way. Available 250GB, 500GB and 1TB with a respect $129, $199 and $399 MSRP, the Seagate Fast SSD will have worldwide availability starting in Spring 2018.

Lacie Rugged Secure

Knowing that data security is an ever growing concern for consumers around the world, Seagate has outfitted their new LaCie Rugged Secure portable drive with hardware encryption. Designed to withstand drops on studio floors and use in sub-zero photo shoots, the LaCie Rugged Secure is the first Rugged drive to include Seagate Secure technology to encrypt the drive. This type of technology should give professionals the ultimate peace of mind that their data cannot be accessed by unauthorized users, as it will render the drive inaccessible when unplugged from a PC and lock it with a password via new Toolkit software. The LaCie Rugged Secure street price in the U.S. will be $139 for 2TB and will be shipping in the Spring.
