Samsung Galaxy S8 Screen Details Leak a Week Before Launch

By

A bunch of details have leaked over the last handful of weeks leading up to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone. Another leak has landed and this one gives up one of the biggest details that many have been wanting to know- screen resolution. A new picture has leaked and this image allegedly shows the settings screen for the smartphone where users can control the screen resolution.

The image shows what appears to be a Galaxy S8 smartphone running and a slider that allwos users to choose resolution of 1480×720, 2220×1080, and 2960×1440. The idea behind allowing the screen resolution to be changed is that lowering the resolution extends battery life according to BGR.

With the Galaxy S8 being so tall, the resolutions are all a bit different than other smartphones on the market today. The exact screen ratio is unclear, but it will be greater than the 18:9 that the LG G6 uses according to this leak. One thing that is still a mystery is exactly what screen resolutions will be for the Galaxy S8 desktop mode function.

This new leak doesn’t shed any more light on the exact size of the smartphone screen. Previous leaks have claimed that the Galaxy S8 will have a 5.8-inch screen and the Galaxy S8+ will have a 6.2-inch screen. A previous leak claimed that the S8 aspect ratio will be 18:9, but these new details seem to refute that.

The US model is expected to use a Snapdragon 835 processor with the global model using a Samsung Exynos 8895 processor. Power for the S8 is rumored to come from a 3,000 mAh battery and the rear camera is tipped as a 12MP unit with an 8MP front camera. Internal storage is 64GB, but there will likely be versions with more storage than that.
