Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage is Coming

A new version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 with more RAM and storage is incoming. The device has been confirmed by an official page on the Samsung Korea website showing a S8 Plus version sporting 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. That is an increase over the current Galaxy S8 Plus that has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The good news is that unlike Apple, Samsung does include a memory card slot for storage expansion.

AndroidHeadlines reports that Samsung is giving the DeX Dock with the S8 Plus sporting 6GB of RAM, but since the website is in Korean it’s not clear if you get that dock free with any purchase of the 6GB version or if it’s only available if you preorder the smartphone. My money would be on getting the dock if you pre-order, Samsung is infamous for offering free stuff if you pre-order.

In China, smartphones really need 6GB of RAM to compete on paper as most Chinese makers offer their devices with 6GB of RAM. Versions of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus sporting 6GB of RAM have already made their way through TENAA, which is a Chinese government organization similar to the US FCC. Other than the additional RAM and storage, the new Galaxy S8 Plus is identical to the version launched back in March. It’s unclear if the 6GB RAM version of the smartphone will be available outside Korea and China at this time.

If you somehow missed the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, the smartphones get either an Exynos 8895 or a Snapdragon 835 SoC depending on where you live. Android 7.0 is the OS and power for the S8 Plus comes from a 3500 mAh internal battery. RAM and storage is 4GB and 64GB respectively.
