Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Shipping With Different Camera Sensors

By

This week there has been a ton of buzz about how Samsung is shipping a varitey of camers inside the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. To be fair, Samsung never specified the exact brand camera that was going to be used inside the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but rather lists the main rear-facing camera as being a CMOS 16.0 MP OIS device. It appears that Samsung is using their own Samsung ISOCELL camera sensor and the Sony IMX240 in others. Now, the issue at hand is that the image quality is said to be slightly better on the Sony IMX240 sensor! The website SamMobile got their hands on smartphones with both sensors and have a bunch of 1:1 image crops up for comparison. The images were taken with Auto Mode to replicate how most people take pictures.
