Red Dead Redemption V Has been Killed

Fans who like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption and were looking forward to the Red Dead Redemption V mod have something to be sad about. The team who were working on that mod have announced that it has been cancelled. The team behind the mod is called .White and they have announced that they have been contacted by Take Two and the mod is no more.

The team had planned to launch a beta of the mod this summer and had circulated a teaser trailer for the mod that has now been taken down as well. The lead modder on the team goes by Mr. Leisurewear and he wrote that the cancellation is a “hard pill to swallow” and he later claimed that the mod would not have been a PC port of Red Dead, a game not available for PC users.

Mr. Leisurewear reports that all fans would have gotten was a single map and that you would have needed legal copies of both games to pull the mod off. Red Dead Redemption story mode would have never come to PC according to the modder. Mr. Leisurewear also notes that the .White toolkit that was developed for the mod will never be released to the public reports PCGamer.

The Modder says that he was ordered to release nothing publicly and with fear of a lawsuit, he will comply with that request. The modder did note that he would be keeping the files noting that he would not throw away three years of work. Mr. Leisurewear and his team aren’t the only modders who have been forced to abandon ambitious projects such as this by game studios. The cancellation has left some PC gamers angry that at least a bit of the game won’t land for them to enjoy.
