Pokmon Direct Reveals Work In Development Before E3

The Pokmon Direct announcement just a week before E3 may not have been what many were expecting. The announcement features a trailer as seen below which shows what Nintendo currently has in development.

Pokkn Tournament DX

Pokkn Tournament has been announced to re-release on the Nintendo Switch as Pokkn Tournament DX. This is a nice addition to the Nintendo Switch lineup for who missed out on Bandai Namco Studios Tekken/Pokmon style hybrid fighting game on the Wii U. In addition to another Switch title release, Pokkn also happens to be the first Pokmon game to release on the console. The teaser demonstrates how the re-release of Pokkn is played on the Switch and how gaming with others is made simple and fun.

Pokmon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Leading up to the announcement, there was a familiar feeling when Pokmon Z was expected to follow X and Y before Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were revealed instead. Anticipation of Stars to be the third instalment for the seventh gen series so far has been put to rest. Instead, the teaser briefly shows the 3DS and the upcoming new 2DS XLwill have Pokmon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to be an exclusive release. Pokmon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is promised to have an alternate story to the original seventh gen paired releases as well as new Alola Pokmon not featured with Sun and Moon. Stars not being announced isnt what is disappointing. Knowing the series could potentially be featured on the Nintendo Switch with better graphics and not be strictly a portable game is disappointing to many.

Even with the massive success the Nintendo Switch has had since release, Nintendo is still pushing new content on the 3DS family handhelds (as well as releasing the 2DS XL). This shows Nintendo’s committed to not abandon the 3DS family to focus entirely on the Nintendo Switch.

Pokmon Gold and Silver

Additionally, second gen Gold and Silver originally released for the Game Boy Color are going to launch on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in September. Gold and Silver on the Virtual Console will be Pokmon Bank compatible.

Pokkn Tournament DX will release September 2017 for the Nintendo Switch. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are to release November 17 2017. Gold and Silver will be available for purchase in the Nintendo eShop September 22^nd.
