Playerunknown Battlegrounds Hits 5M copies Sold

Playerunknown Battlegrounds has been one of the most popular video games out there since it launched on Steam back in March as an Early Access title. Since that launch the game has become one of the most popular titles on Steam, which is the only place the game is sold. New data has come in via the Steamspy tool that collects data from Steam users to shed insights on what they are buying and playing.

According to that tool Playerunknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) is selling in a very big way to the tune of 5.19 million copies since launch. The game currently sells for $30 and has sold at that price since it launched with no discounts and is only available on PC. Gamespot reports that the title will be coming to the Xbox One later this year.

There seems to be no stopping in sight for PUBG sales, it is still selling at a brisk pace despite being out for months. Helping the game to draw sales is the fact that the game is the most streamed game on Twitch beating out League of Legends and even DOTA 2. Another factoid about the game that will blow your mind, it’s said to be the fourth all-time title for peak concurrent players surpassing even GTA V.

Gamespot also notes that server issues have prevented PUBG’s developer from issuing an update this week, forcing the latest game update to be delayed for a week. This is an anticipated update because it will add first person servers to the mix. The last time we talked about PUBG was when the game’s most popular Twitch streamer Dr. DisRespect was issued a ban after killing own of his own teammates for not fitting onto a motorcycle.
