SHIELD Tablet K1

Wil O’Neal, NVIDIA Digital Marketing Senior Manager, has posted up a video that shows the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. NVIDIA promised that the SHIELD Tablet K1 that shipped with Lollipop would soon be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the end of the year. The video sneak peak of Marshmallow running on the Tablet K1 looks pretty good and the description on Youtube states that the Marshmallow OTA update is coming in December still.

Mr. O’Neal covers a number of the new features and some of those shown are the new SHIELD camera app, which is completely new and enhanced by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. There is just one app page that scrolls vertically now that has a search bar on top. This is great for those that have a ton of apps and have a hard time finding the app that they are looking for. App permissions are easier than ever to use and the OS makes storing things on the microSD card simple. The final feature for Marshmallow that was talked about was GeForce Now, which will allow you to stream your PC games to the tablet!

We expect the original SHIELD Tablet to be getting similar treatment, but you’ll have to wait for it to drop in 2016.
