NVIDIA 7900 GT/GTX out of stock in USA, UK

By

NVIDIA has been all about hard launches in 2006 and while they launched the GeForce 7900 series with cards at retailers they couldn’t keep their supplies up. If you visit Newegg every single 7900 GT/GTX is sold out and none are expected for many days to come. I wonder if they sold out because of the tens of thousands of readers of our XFX 7900 GTX review and our XFX 7600 GT review. We will keep you updated on the supply issue.

WHY, oh why oh why? We keep asking ourselves and Nvidia why it keeps doing this. Nvidia set a great example with the 7800 GTX 256 MB and we thought everything would go just fine and dandy from there. Well it didn’t. First it launched 7800 GTX 512, the rarest card from Geforce 5800 Ultra and after months of not shipping it just announced its first 90 nanometre part. Nvidia will say it sold out, and we believe that’s true, but we know that there is a huge shortage of especially 7900 GTX, G71 chips. We spoke with some of these shops and we learned that some of these cards may emerge this week but most of those places already have pre-orders to fill.
