Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Pairs with Any Bluetooth Device

By

If you are one of the folks who have been able to get their hands on the new Nintendo Switch game console with the cool Joy-Con controllers, it has been confirmed that the Bluetooth devices can be paired with other gadgets. The Bluetooth connectivity means that if you have a hankering to play games on your PC, Mac, or Android devices with a game controller you can.

You might notice that iOS devices aren’t on that list and that is because of different wireless specs that prevent the Joy-Cons from being synced with Apple’s tablets and smartphones. There is a caveat though, you can’t use both Joy-Cons together as a single controller with these devices as you can with the Switch.

This appears to be some sort of driver issue and there is always the chance that some smart dev will come up with a driver for other devices allowing the Joy-Cons to be used together. As it is now all you can do is use one side of the Joy-Con for single player games or sync each side as a different controller.

With both having an analog stick on therm, a single Joy-Con may still make for a nice game controller. It’s always nice to find out that your gaming gear will pull duty with more than one device.
