Nintendo Also Did a Live Action Groundbreaking Ceremony for Super Nintendo World

Yesterday I talked a bit about the trailer that Nintendo and Universal Studios had offered up for Super Nintendo World. The trailer has some real people in it, but the majority of it was computer animated. Nintendo also put together a live action Mario side scrolling set to celebrate the groundbreaking for the theme park set to open first in Japan in 2020.

The live action demo has an actor in a Mario costume running in place while a very ornate background behind him slides past complete with coins, Princess Peach’s castle and those little boxes we all remember from growing up. The actor doesn’t quite jump the Goombas, but I guess that’s what you get when the actor can’t really see.

Mario jumps over goombas and even kicks a turtle shell in the opening. I remember that turtle shell in Super Mario Bros., there was one where you could jump on it over and over to earn huge numbers of free lives.

You can check out the groundbreaking ceremony in full on the first video. The second video is edited to show only the Mario actor running in place according to Kotaku. It looks like a lot of effort went into making this ceremony.
