Amazon and the NFL have reached a deal to stream a total of ten Thursday Night Football games for the 2017-18 season. This comes as a bit of a surprise since Twitter offered live streams of Thursday Night Football games just last season. Sources say Amazon and NFL have agreed to a one-year deal at a price of about $50 million while Twitter is reported to have paid just $10 million for streaming the games last season. There were many interested in having rights to stream the ten thursday football games. The source says Amazon gained exclusive rights to stream Thursday Night Football this coming season over Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

The transition of Thursday Night Football streaming from Twitter to Amazon means the content will no longer be free unless viewed on Verizon, CBS, NBC, and NFL Network broadcastbecause the stream will be exclusive to Amazon Prime members only. If Amazon two-day-shipping, Amazon Music, and Prime video were not enough reason to pay a subscription fee, they just made their package more appealing.

NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted last week the NFL hopes to release its upcoming regular-season schedule later this month between April 17 through April 21. Once released, we may know which games we may expect to stream through Amazon Prime.

Details are still unknown as to how Amazon will stream the ten Thursday Night Football games. Last year, Twitters live streams were positioned with a stream timeline which were meant to have viewers interact with each other, but this added a bit of annoyance since it allowed distractions.
