New Intellivision Console is Coming for Under $200

Retro gamers who have been around long enough will probably have fond memories of playing games on the Intellivision console. The new console will land on October 1 and promises to carry on the history of “firsts” that the company has with concept, design, and approach to gaming. Company spokesman Tommy Tallarico has spilled some of the beans about the console during a livestream.

He says that the new console will cost “much less than $200.” He also notes that the Intellivision will ship with classic games from the old console pre-installed on an internal HDD. The new Intellivision will have HDMI output for modern TVs.

The spokesman also notes that there will be edutainment titles available reports Destructoid. A live Facebook event will be hosted tomorrow that will presumably reveal the console officially.

The image here is of the classic console, but odds are the new console will have a similar look and feel. Retro gaming is a big deal right now with Nintendo and others raking it in on reissues of classic hardware and games. I never had the Intellivision back in the day and I always wondered what the number pad was for on the controllers.
