Yesterday at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco Legit Reviews was able to attend an overclocking session that was put on by Intel, ASUS and G.Skill. During the session Jon ‘Elmor’ Sandstrom was able to break the World Record for the highest CPU clock frequency on the Intel Core i7-6950X processor.

Elmor was able to overclock the Intel Core i7-6950X processor up to 5731.78MHz on one of the 10 processor cores. Elmor used the recently released ASUS ROG Rampage V Edition 10 motherboard and a good amount of Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) to reach this epic overclock that is validated.

This is almost double the base clock frequency of this specific processor and shows just how far you can push an Intel Core i7-6950X processor if you have the right hardware. Hitting frequencies this high on a Core i7-6950X are the usually the result of cherry picking processors though, so don’t expect to be able to repeat this at home with a single off the shelf processor.

Prior to this the overclocking record was 5726.84MHz and was turned in by slamms on an ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 motherboard as well.
