Motorola Mobility Outs Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus at MWC 2017

Lenovo now owns Motorola Mobility and at MWC 2017 two new Moto family smartphones have debuted. The new smartphones are the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus. These devices represent the fifth generation of the Moto G family. Both of the smartphones have a metal design and the G5 comes in Lunar Gray or Fine Gold colors.

Power for the Moto G5 comes from a 2800 mAh internal battery proming all day runtime. The smartphone ships with a 10W rapid charger that can charge the battery to hours of use in just a few minutes. The processor under the hood of the G5 is a 1.4GHz octa-core unit and the smartphone has a front fingerprint reader. The rear camera is a 13MP unit featuring phase detection autofocus for sharper photos.

The fancier of the two smartphones that Moto unveiled at the show is the Moto G5 Plus. This device promises the most advanced 12MP camera in its class and it has Dual Autofocus Pixels for fast focusing. The sensor has 10x more pixels for 60% faster focusing compared to the Moto G4 plus smartphone. Power comes from a 3,000 mAh internal battery.

The chip inside the device is a 2.0GHz octa-core and the phone supports 4G LTE connectivity. The smartphone also supports Moto Display that allows you to see notifications without unlocking the device. Moto also fits the smartphone with Google Assistant for task managing and assistance. The Moto G5 with 2GB of RAM will ship in March and will land at O2 in Europe as a blue color exclusive. The smartphone will also be offered in other colors at Amazon and via the Motorola online store starting at 179. The Moto G5 Plus will launch mid-spring via Carphone Warehouse for 259. The phones will launch in March in North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. In the US, the G5 Plus will start at $229 with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
