The MotherBox Could Be the End of Wireless Charging

When wireless charging was first introduced, we could easily jump at the idea knowing that we would finally be released from our rubber coated shackles that we use to keep our phones charged. Unfortunately, wireless charging didn’t start off wireless. Rather, we were given devices that attached to the backs of our phones that would then be placed onto another device that was plugged into a wall by a wire. We were still limited. Although we wouldn’t have any cords directly connected to our devices, we were still bound by the fact that our charging could easily be disrupted by picking up our phones when Flappy Bird gets too intense. Now, we have The MotherBox: A project currently on Indiegogo that will free us from our thin chains and deliver a truly wireless charging experience.

Rather than having inductive charging pads (like the ones in popular coffee shops or those that sell for nearly $15 on Amazon), The MotherBox will feature 3-Dimentional Phase Coils that distribute magnetic fields in three axes (x, y, and z). This will reduce/deminish the limitations of inductive charging pads. As soon as a phone that works with The MotherBox is within range of the product there are algorithms that will guide the electromagnetic charging power towards the device.

Surely many of us have wondered when wireless charging will truly become wireless and The MotherBox is definitely a step up! Perks through Indiegogo that include a MotherBox start from $79 USD to $499 USD and although they have surpassed their funding goal of $25,000, they are still accepting donations.
