The greatest American pastime, also known as the MLB has apparently realized the future of the sport lies in the hands of the youth. With social media becoming increasingly more popular and demanding, it is great to see the Major League Baseball put more effort to appeal to fans of all ages. All fans of baseball have a common interest to subscribe to a PlayStation Vue membership. Sonys subscription has added the MLB Network to its line of media apps. The MLB Network joining the PlayStation Vue app comes at the perfect time, just a couple of weeks before the start of the MLB season on April 2nd and the World Baseball Classic semifinal and championships games on the way.

PlayStation Vue

The Sony Vue app launched last March and can be viewed on any PlayStation consoles along with Roku, Google, Amazon, and Apple. Additionally, the Sony Vue may also be viewed on Android, IOS, Google Chromecast, PC, and Macs.

This news is rather an impressive move for MLB and an option to have fans stop resorting to illegal streams. An example would be this sources statement just two seasons ago, Time Warner Cable and the Los Angeles Dodgers struck a twenty-five year, $8.35 billion deal giving Time Warner Cable the exclusive broadcast rights to all Dodgers games in Los Angeles via its creatively-named regional sports network, Time Warner Cable SportsNet LA. Time Warner Cable then immediately turned around and demanded massive price hikes (rumored to be around $5 per subscriber) for any other pay TV provider that wanted to offer the channel. All of the regional cable operators (including AT&T, Cox, Dish and DirecTV) balked at the hike, resulting about 70% of fans in Dodgers territory being unable to watch the final six games of last season. An overwhelming 70% of Dodgers fans were unable to watch the end stretch of the 2015 MLB season.

As of now, either Sling or Direct TV services have the MLB Network broadcasting on television, just on mobile devices. The MLB Network is included with subscription of PlayStation Vue basic tear and this may be a main source of the 2017-118 MLB season to many which starts at $34.99 to $44.99 based on where each subscriber is located. Subscribers in addition receiver channels from ESPN and Fox. It is speculated Sony has plans to add real time scores and an option to avoid having final scores ruin any potential recordings.
