Microsoft Windows 10 Will Be Free Upgrade For 7 and 8.1 Users

Microsoft said on Wednesday that the upcoming Windows 10 operating system will be offered as a free upgrade to a large portion of their customer base. If you are running Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1 you will have the ability to upgrade to Windows 10 for a period of one year after the new OS is released! Many industry experts believe that this shift in release strategy shows that Microsoft has already begun moving toward a frequently updated, subscription model for its flagship operating system, rather than major paid-for releases every few years.

Windows 10 was designed for an increasingly mobile society where gaming, social media and cloud media are the norm. Microsoft did not announce the exact release date for Windows 10, but it is expected to be launched later this year. At the press conference today Microsoft did mention that a new Windows 10 build would be available to insiders next week.
