Meet Turris – A Free Spinning VR Seat That Holds A PC

By

My inbox gets flooded with Kickstarter announcements and it’s easy to ignore all the projects that are looking to get crowd funded these days. This week I learned that Simon Solotko has co-founded a company called Praevidi that is behind a new product called Turris that aims to revolutionize seating for Virtual Reality (VR) users. Simon worked with Legit Reviews starting back in 2008 when he was the Senior Brand Marketing Manager for Desktop Product Marketing with AMD.

Turris is a fancy seat that integrates rotational movement sensors, connectors, and a micro ATX Do-It-Yourself PC you build for what hands free motion control in VR. The Turris prototype can be seen in the video below and it looks like it is a much needed product as using VR seated in a traditional office or gaming chair can be a PITA more times than not. Turris has tangle-free 360 degree rotation and you just spin in the chair to control your orientation and pivot your hips to control forward/back/left/right movement in the VR environment. Praevidi says that the Turris will be compatibile with the Oculus RIFT, HTC VIVE and upcoming Sony Morpheus. You’ll have to check out the video below to see it in action to really see the potential of this for VR users.

I think the Turris seat a product that solves a problem and I know that Simon loves the gaming PC market and is trying to make it better!
