Koolance CPU-LN2 versus K|ngp|n Cooling Dragon F1EE

Today we were using a combination of components. Both systems used two AMD Radeon HD 4870×2 video cards in CrossfireX, a Corsair HX1000 powersupply, and Corsair Dominator GT 1866C7 2GB memory modules. Arctic Silver Ceramique was the thermal paste of choice with a dab the size of a pea applied to the center of the IHS and mounting pressure and a short warm-up to 60 Celsius used to spread the thermal paste. For a comparison my personal K|ngp|n Cooling Dragon F1EE LN2 pot was utilized with a bore-hole drilled 1/4″ from the base for temperature measurements. On both systems a Fluke 16 was used with a temperature probe inserted into the container bore-hole and a temperature probe attached to the IHS of the processor with a dab of Ceramique applied to provide a thermal bond.

When using dry ice acetone was poured into the pots until the base tallest part of the base had 1/2″ of acetone above it.With liquid nitrogen the pot was filled to within 1/2″ of the top for AMD’s Phenom II X4 955 and splashed liberally on Core i7.
