Kingston HyperX PC-4300 Memory

Overclocking:

As always we must overclock and push new technology to the edge and find the breaking points. Lately Legit Reviews has been going for stability and quality of our overclocks rather than showing a single benchmark and showing off unstable results. When it came to overclocking the HyperX PC-4300 on the ASUS P4P800S-E we had high hopes with some of the best hardware money can purchase. We were happy to find a that the memory topped out at 277FSB. If you remember that only 5% of the Hynix IC’s passed at 275FSB , so this is a pretty impressive overclock and highly unlikely if you purchase a pair!

benchmarks benchmarks

Yup, you see that right! We are getting 277MHz FSB and 554MHz memory speeds without any problems! So how does HyperX perform at PC-4400 levels versus Corsair’s memory that is rated for these speeds?

Well, What did you expect? At the same timings and speeds they perform basically the same once again!

Conclusions:

Nathan Kirsch’s Thoughts:

Kingston was able to put together a good kit with their PC-4300 series by using quality Hynix IC’s and a tried and true PCB design. The majority of Intel i875P (Canterwood) chipsets can run 250MHz FSB with a 1:1 ratio, but begin to fail around 260-270MHz FSB due to the chipset and the way the board manufacturers implemented memory voltages. Kingston stayed out of the marketing wars for having the fastest rated memory (PC-4400), but came out with a module that can be found at a lower price point than Corsair’s and OCZ’s PC-4400 memory lines.

When it comes down to price versus performance for extreme performance memory HyperX PC-4300 is just about as good as it gets. If you are one of those people that wants to wait just a little bit longer till the next speed grade comes out you might not want to do that this time around. There is a pretty good chance that this is the fastest DDR1 module that Kingston will produce. DDR2 is just a number of months away and DDR1 has pretty much peaked as far as IC’s are concerned.

Legit Bottom Line:

Kingston HyperX PC-4300 is very fast, stable and comes in at a price point a tad lower than other brand name competitors!

If this memory does not suit your needs check to see if Kingston has any that do!
