Kingston Evaluates PCBs with Embedded Resistors

By

Long-time DRAM-module market leader Kingston Technology will continue evaluating the possibility of using PCBs (printed circuit boards) with embedded resistors in its DRAM-module product lines. So far, the company has not adopted the technology, since the company is not sure if the technology is mature enough, Kingston said.

Some industry experts believe that PCBs with embedded resistors may save about one third of DRAM-module assembly time. However, according to Kingston, using this technology is still more risky compared to the traditional way of mounting resistors on a PCB on an SMT (surface-mount technology) line.
