Johan Andersson Tweets AMD Radeon R9 390X Video Card Image

Johan Andersson over at DICE tweeted what appears to be an image of AMD’s next flagship graphics card! This might be the AMD Radeon R9 390X video card with HBM memory, but AMD hasn’t officially named the card and could name it whatever they like still. Johan Andersson said “This new island is one seriously impressive and sweet GPU.” That is a reassuring comment that the card will be able to overtake or at least challenge the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 video card and hopefully the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti that is rumored to come out around the same time. The GPU codename for this card is ‘Fiji’ and that is the island that Mr. Andersson was talking about in his tweet. AMD is expected to launch this card sometime next month and chances are it will be spotted in back rooms and in private meetings during Computex 2015.

This Fiji based card doesn’t look long, so this might be the water cooled version that we saw renderings of earlier this month.
