The Intel Core i7-6950X processor features the LGA2011v3 package for Intel X99 motherboards and is widely expected to have ten physical cores with Intel Hyper-Threading technology for an additional 10 threads! The Intel website lists the processor having 25MB of cache and a clock speed of up to 3.5GHz. The site doesn’t mention the base clock, but we’d expect it to be around 3GHz and we can’t wait to see how fair those clock speeds can be pushed with some overclocking.

There is no official word on the release date or pricing, but it would be safe to assume that it is coming out Q2 2016 since the chip maker is already releasing public driver support.
