Intel Bay Trail NUC Kit DN2820FYKH Arrives For Just $128

By

Intel has launched a budget-friendly NUC Kit that is powered with a Bay Trail processor! The Intel NUC Kit DN2820FYKH is priced at just $128.00 and is powered by an Intel Celeron N2820 processor (up to 2.4GHz dual-core, 1MB cache, 7.5W TDP) that also contains Intel HD Graphics that operated up to 756MHz with a single HDMI 1.4a video output. When it comes to memory there is a single DDR3L SO-DIMM memory slot, so you are limited to single-channel 1066MHz performance and 8GB. When it comes to connectivity there are a pair of USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, HDMI 1.4a, 3.5mm headphone and microphone combo jack, IR sensor and Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000Mbps). Internally there is storage support is for 2.5-inch hard drives or SSDs that have a z-height of 9.5mm or less. There is also an included Intel Wireless-N 7260BN card pre-installed! (IEEE 802.11bgn, Bluetooth 4.0, Intel Wireless Display built-in). That card along normally runs around $20-$25, so you get quite a bit for the price tag. This might make for a good little solution for a media center, stream machine, HTPC platform w/ XBMC, torrent box or whatever else you have in mind. Most PC enthusiasts have old notebook drives laying around, so you’ll just need an OS and a single DDR3L 1.35V notebook SO-DIMM to get going. It should be noted that the memory is set to run at 1066MHz no matter what you put in this system, so there is no need to buy something expensive!
