Amazon has added the ‘HBO Collection’ to their Prime streaming video service. HBO, traditionally the hardest nut to crack in terms of VOD availability outside of their first-party offerings, is bringing a number of legendary shows to Prime at no extra cost to current members. Founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, announced the news on Amazon’s home page today.
Now before getting too excited, keep in mind: this is not the addition of all HBO GO content. HBO’s Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Silicon Valley are notably missing from Amazon’s HBO list. Amazon Prime had just recently announced a $20 price increase for new Prime subscribers and also for current subscribers upon renewal, and seems to be putting that extra cash to good use.
