Google Searches Now Showing Tweets

Google and Twitter have progressed in their partnership so that now Google search results incorporate tweets results on desktop client browsers, adding to the already existing mobile functionality. There’s not need to even bother to query with the term twitter or hashtag symbols, Google will return tweet results anyway if it feels it’s relevant to the search. When we did a search of NVIDIA, we found tweet results a few entries down in a scrollable box below the link to NVIDIA’s Twitter page complete with photos and links within the tweets. While tweet results were searchable prior, this is the first time they are showing the actual tweets and presenting them in this format.

This is currently only available for searches in English but Google has indicated that it will be available to other languages in the future. Bing has offered this feature for some time now and given Twitter’s struggles of late, this can only help their traffic and potentially, its earnings.
