It seems Google has done it again, their Chrome browser managed to become the world’s number one browser for the first time on March 18th 2012. This new first for Google Chrome is according to data collected by StatCounter, the independent website analytics company. The research by the firm reports that Chrome managed to top the polls in Brazil, India, and Russia, which is what allowed Chrome to finally overcome Internet Explorer, if only for a short period of time. Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter, has said that “While it is only one day, this is a milestone.” He went on to add that Chrome will still face a battle with its rivals Internet Explorer and Firefox for dominance in many other regions.

“Whether Chrome can take the lead in the browser wars in the long term remains to be seen, however the trend towards Chrome usage at weekends is undeniable. At weekends, when people are free to choose what browser to use, many of them are selecting Chrome in preference to IE,” added Aodhan Cullen, commenting on the weekend surges in Chrome usage.
