Goodbye to your former favorite Smartphone, Blackberry

By

Today the world of mobile phones morns the loss of one of it former biggest members, Blackberry. It was announced that the will cease in house production of phones. While the physical portion of the company maybe dead the software side will live on. CEO John Chen says that software side, he believes is on solid financial footing. The past few years have not been kind to them as the rise of Samsung and Apple pushed them further and further to the annals of history.

BBM has been fairly successful on android and iOS since they launched it on the platforms. Flying under a lot of radars last year they announced the Priv which was a flop by many critics and was their last hail mary of a phone. The was rumors and speculation earlier this year that they would be putting out a new phone, that door has been closed now with the announcement today. Some takeovers and buyouts have been rumored ever since RIM changed its name to Blackberry Limited. Some of the most iconic phones from the early days of smartphones were made by them, I’m looking at you 8000 series.

Blackberry Smartphone

It has been a long time coming and so we say thank you, for being a introduction for many of us as our first smart phone. We will forever remember you beloved scroll wheel and and nice physical keyboard on you. You tried so hard to stay relative but it was for naught.

Goodbye Blackberry 1984-2016
