Finding StarCraft Master Source Code Will Get You Free Trip To Blizzcon

A user on Reddit that goes by Khemist49 recently purchased a lot off eBay that contained blizzard stuff that appeared to be from a storage unit. It had a bunch of blizzard games and a gold master source code CD-R disc of the original StarCraft dated 1998. The post got some attention on Reddit, but some thought it might have been an April Fool’s Day joke or just a fake disc. Rather than posting the source code, Khemist49 returned the disc to Blizzard after their legal team asked him to since it contains intellectual property and trade secrets.

After returning the StarCraft Gold Master Source Code it appears to have been the real deal and Blizzard seems to have hooked the guy up!

“So, for those of you who were following my story on the Starcraft Gold Master Source Code Disc i found. I returned the disc to Blizzard 2 weeks ago. A few days later i received a copy of Overwatch and $250 in blizzard store credit. A week later i got another call from a Blizzard Employee. He wanted to thank me for returning their disc (which was in fact stolen). He then asked me if i have ever heard of BlizzCon. I said well, yeah of course but it’s impossible for me to go, i live in the east coast, and the badges are always sold out before you can refresh the page lol. He said well, the reason we are calling you is to invite you to Blizzcon, all expenses paid, and we would love to take you out for drinks. I didn’t know what to say, i was shocked, i expected nothing more than the free game and the store credit… After i thanked him 1,000 times he said oh by the way you should also be receiving something in the mail! This is what i got 2 days late.” – Khemist49
