Extreme NVIDIA SHIELD Teardown with Explosives!

NVIDIA’s handheld Android gaming console, SHIELD, takes gaming on the go to a whole new level. NVIDIA has reportedly sold nearly all of the first 10,000 production units after going on sale in the United States on July 31st, 2013. At $289 a pop, the NVIDIA SHIELD isn’t cheap as for $100 to $200 more you could pick up the Sony PlayStation 4 or Microsoft Xbox One game consoles. The NVIDIA SHIELD plays any Android game title, but has the ability to stream games from a PC. You’ll be playing games around the home without needing to sit at your desk!

What do you get for nearly $300? Inside the SHIELD you’ll find the NVIDIA Tegra 4 quad-core mobile processor with 2GB of RAM, a three-axis gyro and three-axis accelerometer, 802.11n 22 Mimo WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. You also have a crisp 1280720 display, mini-HDMI output, a microSD memory card slot, micro-USB 2.0 and a 3.5 mm headphone jack with microphone support. That sounds cool, but want to really see the insides? NVIDIA has posted up a viral marketing video that has them blowing up a SHIELD to show you the guts of the unit.
