Disney Kills LucasArts, Cancels Star Wars 1313 & Other Games

By

LucasArts was acquired by The Walt Disney Company on October 30, 2012 and at the time claimed nothing would change. Well, this morning Disney confirmed that LucasArts would cease to operate as a video game developer and serve as a licensor. This means that the Star Wars games already in development, such as Star Wars: 1313 and First Assault, have been cancelled. It also looks like of the LucasArts staff has been laid off from the company. Was this done because Disney wants to focus on Star Wars Episode VII or do they just want out of the video game creation business? Details of the shutdown were first reported by Kotaku.
