Crucial today announced the immediate availability of the Crucial M500 solid state drive (SSD). The Crucial M500 SSD series uses the Marvell 88SS9187 controller with custom firmware made by Crucial for the M500. The 2.5-inch drives are 7mm Z-Height drives and are available in 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB capacities with MSRPs of $129.99, $219.99, $399.99, and $599.99, respectively. Getting a 960GB SSD that is just 7mm in thickness for under $600 is pretty impressive! The 500MB/s sequential read and 400MB/s sequential write speeds are no joke either!
