The SP2200 Satellites and Subwoofer

Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2200 2.1 Speaker Systems Right Satellite

Here’s the right side satellite for the SP2200 speaker system. Personally, I like the design Corsair chose for these guys. While some might argue that having them angled up is a con, I think for most folks it is fine.

Other than that, I love that sub control is on the actual speaker itself instead of being on the subwoofer where it is much less convenient.

The AUX port is what allows you to plug in an MP3 player or another device, so that it can play through the speakers itself. The little headphones icon obviously means that port is for the headphones.

Here’s the backside of the right satellite, the 3.5mm right angle jack goes to the PC as labeled, and the 12 pin DIN connector goes to the subwoofer.

A small complaint I have here is that the din connector is really thick and the cable is stiff. This can make cable routing on the desk a bit of a pain. Though it’s no thicker than a standard power cord.

Here we have the left side satellite for the SP2200 system. Both the left and right satellites have removable filters over the cones. A nice added feature. Other that that; the grey-ish Corsair logo looks as sharp as on their other products.

Unlike the satellites, the subwoofer does not have a removable filter & grill though that’s not much of an issue. It’s a rather basic design but is a powered sub, which is often not seen on some of the more budget oriented speaker systems.

Here’s the backside of the Subwoofer; you’ve got your power input, DIN connection, RCA jack for the left side speaker, and input RCA jacks.

Here’s some of the issues I have with Corsair’s design choice though. The left side satellite does not have a removable cable so if you have a larger design with a bigger monitor setup then you can run into issues and need to pick up an extension cable.
The DIN connection is the same case as well.

While these are small complaints, it’s one thing I’ve always found PC Speaker Systems lack. Modular cables on DIY setups or high end home theater setups adds just an extra layer of value to a product making them that much more flexible for individual setups.

We’ll wrap this up now and I’ll give my best impressions and thoughts of the SP2200 system and it’s overall sound quality.
