NZXT Shows New SFF Case at CES 2016

NZXT, best known for their great case designs took a select group of media to an offsite location to show us their new case design which has been in development for several years. Not much information was available, as it is all under wraps for a couple more weeks, however this is the first look we have at the new design, which is inspired in part by the Ferarri 458.

The sample prototype they had on display was covered in a custom NZXT wrap, once it is released we are told it will be available in multiple color schemes, at a minimum I would look for a Black edition and a White edition. While talking about the color, NZXT said there would be a matte white edition! Let’s take a look at this new case and see what we can find out ahead of the release.

Overall, the new design is sleek, lots of rounded parts, the front is missing any device bays, up top is the front I/O cluster which contains 2x USB 3.1 (Gen 1) ports. The two side panels are slightly raised allowing for airflow around the edges. On the main side panel is a window, which is double the normal thickness. In addition to increasing the thickness of the window, NZXT has also gone with a triple layer steel side panels which will make for some very sturdy side panels.

Taking a look at the back panel, we find two expansion slots, indicating a mITX motherboard should fit nicely in this case (or as NZXT said “Small Form Factor”). In addition, there is a rear exhaust fan, which should be swappable for at least a 120mm AIO liquid cooler. Finally, the bottom mounted power supply will utilize the standard ATX power supplies, and even some of the longer ones.

There you have it, the first look at NZXT’s latest innovation in their case line. No name yet, and not a whole lot of information. We expect to hear more on this case in a couple of weeks, as well as getting a review unit to take a closer look at. The designer of the case, was extremely tight lip, even though he really wanted to tell us everything about it. All he could tell us was that we won’t be disappointed and should be surprised at what else this tiny case can handle.
