Booq Boa – Performance & Functionality
From the very first use, one can see that the Booq Boa is incredibly functional and did its job of storing and protecting our laptop very well. The Boa was able to fit our monster of a laptop – a 17” widescreen Dell Precision – with ease. Booq actually made the Boa available in two different sizes to betteryou’re your PC or Mac laptop. Since we had a 17” screen, we chose the larger of the two models measuring 20” wide by 15” high.
With all of the zippers, pockets, and flaps, the Boa weighs in at just over 5 pounds – relatively heavy for a non-leather laptop case. Much of this weight is because the case has so much padding to protect the contents. For those looking at this case, be prepared: after loading your 17” laptop , along with power brick, cables, MP3 player, some magazines and other paperwork, you can find yourself in for quite a workout trying to get through the security check and make your flight.
Booq includes the Terralinq Service with the Boa as a kind of locator when the laptop case is missing. There is a metal label on the inside of the case with a unique identification number. When you first purchase your Boa, you simply go to the Booq/Terralinq website and register your serial number. If you bag is lost and reported, Terralinq will contact you with the bag’s location and the finder’s contact information. This system is a great addition to have assuming that there are still people out there that will turn your lost bag into lost and found.
Even when loaded with a bunch of stuff, users of the Boa are still able to access their items quickly and easily. You can have the Boa on your shoulder and be able to see and reach all areas of the case. The ergonomics of the case are laid out well and the simplicity and functionality of this case really set it apart from anything else on the market.
Over the years, we have seen many cases to store and transport laptop computers. The Booq Boa, however, combines unique functionality with an extremely durable water resistant exterior that we haven’t seen before. At $215, the Boa is certainly not an impulse purchase, but if you are looking for the best protection for your laptop computer, then you really shouldn’t look any further.
