BenQ to Supply RL Series Monitors for UMG Dallas 2014 Gaming Competition

Over 100 Teams to Participate in Call of Duty: Ghosts Tournament

Call of Duty GhostsCOSTA MESA, Calif. Aug. 19, 2014 BenQ America Corp., a globally renowned LED and gaming monitor expert and official monitor sponsor for UMG Gaming, one of the fastest growing eSports competitive leagues in North America, today announced that the company will supply 200 of its acclaimed RL Series gaming monitors for the upcoming UMG Dallas 2014 tournament in Dallas. The Call of Duty: Ghosts competition, held Aug. 22-24 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, will pit 140 teams against each other onsite while more than 500,000 viewers will tune in to watch the action online. With blazing-fast response times and RevolutionEyes technology for exceptional monitor performance, the 50 RL2460HT and 150 RL2455HM displays supplied by BenQ will ensure that competitors enjoy the best possible experience during long hours of action-packed game play.

Following the exciting action of June’s BenQ Cup, the UMG Dallas 2014 event will see hotter competition and more viewers than ever before. The BenQ Cup featured a $10,000 grand prize for a 32 team, 4 player vs. 4 player Call of Duty: Ghosts competition with ladders for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Top ranking teams from each ladder competed in a single-elimination tournament, with the two winning teams, Team Glory and Team DamaGe, taking home $5,000 purses. The entire tournament was streamed online in June to the 170,000-member UMG audience. More than 1,900 concurrent viewers tuned in online for two nights to watch the full competition featuring over 9,000 teams of at least 3 players each. Projected viewership for the UMG Dallas 2014 event is expected to be over 500,000 unique and more than 60,000 concurrent viewers tuning in to see the battles unfold.

We are very excited to see the level of competition and interest UMG Dallas 2014 is generating,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “UMG players are an integral part of BenQ’s professional gaming community, and we are committed to providing them with the tools they need to conquer the opposition.”

At UMG Dallas 2014, battles will take place on BenQ’s RL2460HT and RL2455HM monitors. The RL2460HT has been specifically optimized for real-time strategy (RTS) and first-person shooter (FPS) console games such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, MOBA-style games like StarCraft ll: Heart of the Swarm, and popular fighting games such as Mortal Kombat. One of the monitor’s unique features is its HDMI-out port, which enables live streaming of gaming content without the risk of lag or delay for the player. The audience can watch the action via the direct feed from a competitor’s monitor, thus enhancing the real-time nature of competitive gaming events. As a result, pro gamers can preserve monitor speed and performance, regardless of the streaming system used.

Designed for professional console gaming with an ultra-low input lag that renders action without ghosting or latency from mouse motion, the RL2455HM features a 60Hz refresh rate tuned to match console video output for seamless connectivity. For top-level games, both monitors feature a 24-inch widescreen (16:9) full HD LED screen, LED backlighting for great color reproduction and low power consumption, and a 12 million to 1 contrast ratio for the best in picture quality.

Featuring RevolutionEyes technology, BenQ’s gaming monitors offer exceptional performance with striking visual clarity, seamless motion fluidity, and added viewing comfort for prolonged hours of competitive play. The displays’ ZeroFlicker technology allows gamers to experience fast, flicker-free gaming on devices that are built specifically for today’s games where speed, comfort, and control are important factors for success. BenQ’s RL gaming monitors bring ultra-fast refresh rates and quick 1-ms GTG response times for faster pixel rates to give players complete control over their gaming experience.
