“Battlefield V” Battle Royale Mode Will be a Paid Game

Gamers are used at this point to Battle Royale games being free to play. Both PUBG and Fortnite cost nothing to download and play and are supported by in-game purchases, “Battlefield V” won’t follow that formula. Fortnite has cashed in big time on in-game purchases and has reportedly made over a billion in revenue all while the software itself is free.

Despite those big numbers, EA still plans to offer no free to play battle royale version of “Battlefield V” (BFV). The good news is that for those who buy the game battle royale will be part of the mix from launch. Gamers can expect that mode to offer the classic BFV archetypes mixed with features that only battle royale games offer reports VGR.

“Were continuing to build and look to deliver innovative multiplayer components to that game. And as we come into October, well be talking more about this, but you should expect that well be delivering a full-featured game that features all of the traditional components of a Battlefield game in addition to new modalities of play including Battle Royale and delivered in a way that we believe we want to play which is not just what you get at launch but in the context of a live service over time. And were excited about what were able to do there.”

EA did say that it is interested in experimenting with free-to-play standalone games. That experiment “might be” in a shooter or other genre, but not for Battlefield right now. BFV will launch in October and big things are expected from the title.
