Battleborn Fall Update is the End of the Road

Fans of the shooter Battleborn from Gearbox will not be happy to hear the latest news out of the developer. Battleborn has a big update landing this fall and after that Fall Update, there will be no more updates for the game. Creative director for the game Randy Varnell announced in the game forums that, “As of this week, there will be no more Battleplans and there is currently no planned content after the Fall Update.”

However, this doesn’t mean that the game is going away reports Gamespot. Varnell said that the game is “here to stay” meaning that even though there will be no more updates, the servers will stay open for gamers to play “for the foreseeable future.” The Fall Update is a big one and will bring new Borderlands themed skins, updated title art, along with new finisher boosts an taunts.

Balance changes to the game are included in the update, but they are said to be minor. As for what’s next for Varnell, he will be transitioning to a role on a team for an unannounced Gearbox game. It’s possible that the game he is working on in Borderlands 3. Battleborn was the biggest investment that Gearbox ever made in production resources.

“I’ve been working on Battleborn nearly exclusively since 2012, and in some ways, that work stretches back to 2009 for me,” Varnell said. “It’s been a long labor of love with many of my good friends at Gearbox, and I’m proud to have shared that journey with you, our community. Your spirit and loyalty have been a constant inspiration to the team at Gearbox.”
