ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme X399 Motherboard Pictures

If you are going to be looking for an AMD socket TR4 motherboard for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors next month you’ll want to keep the ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Zenith Extreme X399 on the short list. This board appears to be the flagship model for ASUS ROG series and is ready for Threadrippers 16 cores and 32 threads that are based on the new Zen microarchitecture. The upcoming ROG Zenith Extreme was first shown at Computex 2017, but ASUS has redesigned the power solution since then. Originally the Rampage VI Extreme and Zenith Extreme X399 boards shared the same power solution as the Rampage VI Extreme based on Intels X299 platform for Skylake-X, but it appears to have been a VRM overheating issue on some of those X299 boards. ASUS made some changes and added active cooling to the high-current 8-phase VRM design to keep temperatures at bay.

The ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme has a heatsink sitting directly on top of the VRM that transfers the heat to a secondary heatsink under the rear I/O shroud by a heat-pipe.

The rear I/O shield has a 40mm fan inside that vents hot air through the rear panel and out of the PC case.

The ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme sports the latest 802.11ad standard when it comes to Wi-Fi support, but if that isn’t enough ASUS is also including a 10G Ethernet card!

This 10G Ethernet card also supports intermediate 2.5G and 5G standards, so you’ll have a sweet home wired network in no time.

When it comes to M.2-based NVMe SSD storage slots it looks like this board has one located under the AMD X399 chipset heatsink and then room for two more on the included ROG DIMM.2 add-in card that is located next to the memory slots.

Audiophiles will be happy that ASUS went with the SupremeFX S1220 codec and HRTF-based surround emulation effects for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive owners.

This looks like one heck of a board and it better be as AMD Ryzen Threadripper has a ton of features and needs a robust board like this to shine! Thanks to Chiphell for all the images! They have over 30 images of this board posted, so if you want to see more give them a click!
