Sandra 2009 Memory Bandwidth

The Sisoft Sandra 2009 benchmark utility just came out recently and we have started to include it in our benchmarking. With Sandra 2009 you can now easily compare the performance of the tested device with its speed and its (published) power (TDP)! Sandra XII SP2 also has SSE4 (Intel) and SSE4A (AMD) benchmark code-paths, which is great for those of you testing next-generation AMD & Intel chips.

Sandra 2009 Graph

Results: Here we see the shared system and graphics memory taking a hit on memory bandwidth with the ASUS Eee PC 1201N taking the bottom spot in this benchmark.

HDTune is a free benchmark that measures the disk’s transfer rates, access time, burst rate, and CPU utilization when reading from the disk.

Results: Here we see the ASUS Eee PC 1201N perform very similarly to the 250GB Seagate hard drive found in the Eee PC 1005PE. The burst rate is on the lower side of things, but the CPU Usage is way down given the more powerful dual core Intel Atom 330 processor in the 1201N.

Geekbench 2 is designed as a powerful program which can allow you to measure the performance of your computer’s processor and memory. In addition, Geekbench also offers the Geekbench Result Browser which lets you compare your Geekbench scores with other Geekbench users.

Geekbench Graph

Results: The ASUS Eee PC 1201N fell in line right where we expected it to be in Geekbench. The dual core processor give the CPU-related scores a boost, but once again we see the memory score is way down compared to the rest of the systems due to the shared system memory with the NVIDIA ION graphics.
