775Dual-VSTA

The ASRock 775Dual-VSTA is a LGA 775 motherboard that offers support for Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium XE, Pentium D, Pentium 4, and Celeron D. It’s based on the VIA 8237A Chipset. Here is a quick breakdown of the features:

775Dual-VSTA Features

Something to take note of is the support for several DDR-1 specifications including DDR266(PC2100), DDR 333(PC2700), and DDR400(PC3200). Note that you cannot use DDRI and DDRII at the same time. Something we weren’t expecting to see on the list is 7.1 HD Audio. This is on the Realtek ALC888 which is has great sound. The one thing that may need to be pointed out is that this board is HDMI ready with a HDMI SPDIF header! ASRock has given us a very nice board with some handy features, all at a college student friendly price.

Right about now you’re thinking, “Brian..none of this means anything if it runs like a Pentium 2.” Well let me put those fears to rest, this board is on par in most every test with the $220+ Intel Bad Axe. Let’s take a look.
