Have the very first AMD Radeon RX 490 video card benchmark numbers have bad it online? It appears that WCCFTech has found what they believe to be Radeon RX 490 benchmark results for Ashes of the Singularity in an online database. The result in question shows up as 687F:C1 and that isn’t a known GPU Device-ID in the AMD GPU database. People are speculating that this is an entirely new GPU as the result has been deleted since word started to spread about it. Could this be the AMD Radeon RX 490?

Rumor has it that the Radeon RX 490 will be based on the VEGA 10 GPU and that it will contain 4,096 Stream processors and up to 16GB HBM2 memory. This GPU will be aimed the high-end gaming market and likely priced at around the price of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080. How did the AMD VEGA GPU powered card do in Ashes of the Singularity? If this really is the upcoming Radeon RX 490 it looks like it performed right in the middle of a bunch of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 video cards. Some might be really excited by this news, but others might be disappointed that it didn’t crush the GeForce GTX 1080 as most believe that NVIDIA is holding back a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.

Hopefully we’ll see more details or at least something for the AMD Radeon GPU fans at AMD’s New Horizon Event that is taking place on December 13th online. That event will be AMD Zen CPU heavy, but what video cards will they be running on the demos? Chances are they might be showing off some early VEGA silicon! The AMD Radeon RX 490 is already listed by some online retailers, so the launch has to be getting close right? None of the online listings for the AMD Radeon RX 490 have any specifications listed, so right now everything is just speculation.
