AMD Radeon R9 290X Specs and Pricing Leaked

AMD is having a tough time keeping things a secret these days. Last week btarunr over at TechPowerUp dug into the page source of the Newegg retail page of the upcoming Radeon R9 290X Battlefied 4 Edition card and discovered that it was set to be $729.99 plus shipping. This week it appears that Japanese retailer Hermitage Akihabara leaked the specifications of both the upcoming Radeon R9 290X, and the lower cost AMD Radeon R9 290.

AMD Radeon R9 290X SpecsAccording to the leaked slide, the R9 290X with the new Hawaii GPU will have 2,816 stream processors, an engine clock of up to 1000 MHz, 5.6 TFLOP/s of compute power, and 4 GB of GDDR5 memory running 5.0 GHZ on a 512-bit wide memory bus. The AMD Radeon R9 290 will feature fewer stream processors, lower clock speeds and a smaller price tag. The leaked image shows that the R9 290 will have 2,560 stream processors, a core clock of up to 948 MHz, 4.9 TFLOP/s of compute performance, and the same exact memory solution as the higher-cost AMD Radeon R9 290X video card. Both cards will also feature identical power connectors (8-pin PCIe and 6-pin PCIe) as well as hardware API support for DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.3, and of couse AMD’s new Mantle technology.radeon-r9-290x
