AMD NVMe RAID Driver For Threadripper Slightly Delayed

By

AMD NVMe RAID drivers for Threadripper were supposed to come out yesterday according to an announcement in August, but it looks like AMD missed that date. We spoke with AMD this morning and they are aware of the miss and are still very excited about bringing FREE NVMe RAID support to the Threadripper platform with no strings attached. The AMD NVMe RAID driver is still coming, but they don’t have an exact date for the release now. It looks like they need a new driver, UEFI, RAID management application and installer to get NVMe RAID working. That means they need to get all the board makers to roll out those updates and ensure that it works on each board. It looks like that is going to take some more time. You can see the bullet points about AMD NVMe RAID below.

  • Support for this requires a new driver, BIOS, management console, and an installer and we are working with partners to complete for roll out.
  • AMD is committed to software quality, and we have been testing its deployment and have decided to postpone the release by a few days to enhance the install experience.
