Amazon just launched the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX! This is the 3rd iteration of the popular eReader, the Kindle fire. The Kindle Fire HDX is host to many new or improved features, one of the top new features is the resolution. The 8.9″ Kindle Fire HDX features a resolution of 2560 x 1600, that’s up from the 1920 x 1200 resoution of the original Kindle Fire HD. The 7″ Kindle Fire HDX now features a 1920 x 1200 resolution instead of the original 1280 x 800 resolution of the Fire HD 7″.
In addition to the increased resolution, the guts of the Fire HDX have been improved upon, in no small way either! The processor inside the new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX’s are the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series Quad-core running at 2.2GH! The original Fire HD has what by comparison is a paltry 1.2GHz dual core processor. In additon to the processor, the RAM has been double from 1GB (1024MB) to 2GB (2048MB).
Looking at a side by side comparison, about the only feature that is the same as the Kindle Fire HD is the name! Just about everything down to the OS has been tweaked in one way or another. If you’re the owner of the original Kindle Fire, now is the time to make the upgrade! The 8.9″ Amazon Kindle HDX can be picked up for as little as $379 while the 7″ Fire HDX is available for as little as $229. In the near future you will be able to grab the Fire HDX with 4G LTE service from either AT&T or Verizon Wireless. For the added bonus of 4G LTE it will tack on an additional $100 to the purchase price.
