Activision Riles Gamers with Modern Warfare Remastered Pricing

By

There were a lot of gamers out there who were quite excited when Activision announced that it would be remastering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. That game is nearly a decade old, but still has legions of fans. Initially, you could buy the game for an extra $20 along with a copy of Infinite Warfare and that was the only way to get Modern Warfare Remastered.

Infinite Warfare was $60 and Modern Warfare Remastered was another $20 reports HotHardware. Recently word surfaced that Activision would be selling Modern Warfare Remastered as a stand alone game for $40. That’s very nearly full price for a game that is almost a decade old. You might assume for that price you get all the DLC, but that is incorrect. The DLC to go along with the game including extra maps and content will cost another $15 making the total price $55.

Gamers are angered at this because many expected Activision to sell the standalone game for somewhere very near the $20 it cost when bundled with the Infinite Warfare game with the DLC. This certainly isn’t the only game to come out in a remastered version, the rub here is that in many cases these remastered games from other publishers come with all the DLC included for the price.

Many fans think that the game should have cost $40 and included DLC, there would be much less ire towards Activision if that had been the case. Had Activision offered the game for $20 standalone, gamers who purchased Infinite Warfare to get the remastered game would have been angry. If you don’t mind the cost of Modern Warfare Remastered, it will launch June 27 at $40 for the game and $15 for the map pack.
