ATTO is one of the oldest hard drive benchmarks that is still used today. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that you can easily interpret. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.

Benchmark Results: The Overlapped I/O test showed that at the 4MB file size that the WD Caviar Green had a transfer rate of 108 MB/s, while the WD Caviar Black had a transfer rate of 157 MB/s. In summary, ATTO shows that the WD Caviar Black 2TB hard drive is ~45% faster in the read test and 43% faster in the write test when compared to the WD Caviar Green 2TB hard drive.
