Virtual Reality Will Soon Allow User To Experience LSD Like Effects

Whenever a new piece of technology is released or in the works we tend to try and push the limits in terms of what the technology may offer. In the 1960s people would experiment with mind altering drugs (LSD) and get thrown into a psychadelic world narrated by the voice of Syd Barrett. Soon enough virtual reality technology will be able to offer something similar to the type of mind bending effects some may experience through psychadelic drugs such as LSD.

Virtual Reality LSD

The VR system will someday give users a type of multisensory experience which will give us this type of LSD-like altered reality. A researcher from Microsoft stated that “by 2027 we will have ubiquitous virtual reality systems that will provide such rich multisensorial experiences that will be capable of producing hallucinations which blend or alter perceived reality.” Franco also mentioned that the virtual reality’s future is not limited to simply visual and auditory stimulation. Rather, the experience will expand to meet ‘haptic’ sense (the sense of touch).

VR will someday give users LSD like experiences

This makes us wonder how these worlds will look, sound, feel, and taste. Surely, this new type of technology will further open doors to new realities and experiences in the virtual world of areas such as travel, entertainment (movies, music videos, etc..), and video games.
