Valve Runs 1,700 PCs to Stop Counter-Strike Cheaters

Valve really wants to stop people who cheat in Counter-Strike. So much so that it has 1,700 CPUs running in computer systems with the sole goal of catching and stopping people who cheat in the popular game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Valve is using Deep Learning techniques to stop the cheaters.

According to Valve when Deep Learning techniques are used to determine cheats, the conviction percentage jumps to 90%. When the techniques were tuned to target brand-new cheats the percentage of convictions hit as high as 99% because cheaters didn’t know they were being targeted.

This technique requires lots of processing power, so Valve bought a server farm. There is a total of 1,700 CPUs running constantly during the day in that server farm to catch cheaters.

Valve reportedly has another 1,700 CPUs laying in wait in case they need to up the processing power. Valve is serious about catching and banning cheaters, fans of the game will certainly want those CPUs to succeed.
